What In The World Is A Piano Dolly

People ask me the same question all of the time. Whenever I am at a backyard barbecue or out with friends and they ask me what I do, I tell them I sell – A piano dolly. I get a blank stare right back at me. Give me a few minutes of your time and I will tell the whole story for the world to finally know what a piano dolly is and why it is one of the most best pieces of equipment for anyone who moves pianos.

Piano dollies, in layman’s terms, are tools used to move a piano. They take lots of different shapes and sizes and can vary quite a bit in their actual function but the general idea is the same for all piano dollies - they move pianos.

A grand piano dolly in the shape of a spider is probably the most popular kind of piano dolly that exists. Most grand pianos at a church, club, music hall or hotel will will be transported to another location during their life. The grand piano dollies have long stretching legs and extend from a central point out to each leg of a piano. They are installed by lifting each area around the leg of a grand piano, typically with a hydraulic lift, then by legs are secured into place and the piano dolly typically remains on the piano for life. The new undercarriage is easy on the eye, is out of the way of most of the people looking at the piano and makes it very easy to roll the piano to any new destination you desire to take it. The wheel can be locked when there is a wish that the piano not be moved for a time. The unit is simply set free to roll with a simple press of a toe against the clip on the wheel to free the brake.

Many schools have upright pianos that have a dolly permanently attached to the piano to make movement in the classroom much more manageable. Most pianos do not come with wheels so the upright piano dolly sets are important to allow teachers to have maximum control in the area of classroom configuration.

For a professional mover of pianos, a piano mover is a necessity. Pianos can weigh up to half a ton or more and they are large enough to cause injury if not moved properly. Piano dollies can help a single piano mover to drive to the pickup location, pick up a piano and move it out of the house, down steps and into the moving truck. The piano dolly not only makes the job of moving a piano much easier, it makes it much quicker as well.

Piano Dolly sets can also come as simple caster wheels in hard plastic cups that are placed over the end of each of the legs of a piano. These type of dolly sets are easier to afford and can accomplish the same task of helping to roll the piano to another part of the room or building.

Strangely, home remodeling is on the increase as homeowners realize that is just a case of carrying out some changes to where they live that is the issue and not the location they live in. Many improvements made to homes are based on the type of remodeling that is going on in a particular region or city so it is best to check and ensure what you are planning fits in well with what is happening elsewhere.

The type of remodeling work you are considering will obviously depend on your circumstances and if you intend to stay, the area remodeling fashions will not be your major concern. But remodeling has another, equally important advantage – it increases the value of your home.

Whilst it is the hope and expectation of every homeowner that they will make a profit on all the work that has been carried out, there is never any guarantee that this will happen. Choose A Faucet To Match Your Bathroom Style

It's time again to fix that faucet. You're sick of the 'drip, drip, drip' from your bathroom sink that keeps you awake until all hours of the morning. It's not the washer in the faucet itself that's gone bad this time; it's the whole apparatus. A visit to Lowe's or Home Depot causes total confusion as you stare opened eyed at the choice you are faced with. Help is seriously needed. How do you make the choice?

Keeping the Same Style Is Easiest

First of all you have to decide whether or not to stick with what you know and replace the faulty faucet with exactly the same style as before. The easiest thing to do is to simply replace your faucet with one which is similar or identical in style. You can even take off the malfunctioning bathroom sink faucet and bring it with you to your local hardware store where you can buy the matching replacement. Of course, if this is not possible then the complications set in and your task becomes much more involved. As there are so many types of mounting for your fixture you will need to know which one you need before buying your new faucet. This is actually the hardest step in choosing your new faucet because the one that you really liked at the store may not work with the current configuration of your sink.

Choose Your Type of Mounting

The most commonly seen mountings include widespread, where there will be individual cold and hot water knobs; center set, with a single knob for hot and cold and covering all three holes which may be present for mounting on your sink; mini-widespread, similar to widespread except for the knobs being less spaced apart; and single-hole, which is similar to center set but only filling one hole and usually wall-mounted - most likely a bathtub faucet. Centerset and mini-widespread faucets are both designed for sinks with pre-drilled 4" holes. Some single-hole faucets include covers that allow you to use them on a sink with 4" pre-drilled holes. If you have one of the other types, though, you are best in choosing that same replacement.

Once you have determined which type of mount will suit your sink, it all comes down to looks. It is a matter of personal preference as to which finish will look the best and complement the rest of your bathroom. You should also evaluate whether the decor of your bathroom is classic, modern or antique in look. On the other hand, sharper and geometric angles may be more appropriate for modern. bathroom designs.

Choosing the Finish

After choosing a faucet, you just have to install it, right? Not so fast - you need to decide on a finish. Bathroom fixtures come in all manner of finishes from shiny to dull and wrought iron to chrome. Each finish has its pros and cons. Chrome and stainless steel are probably the most common of finishes but they scratch easily and water spots and fingerprints show up all too clearly. Brass, which simulates gold and is very distinctive, rusts easier. And brushed nickel, which includes your flat finishes that do not show your fingerprints, is more expensive and its plating will eventually wear. The finish is a matter of personal choice, but knowing your options will help you to decide.

There is also a wide array of choices open as to the style of handles for your faucets. Once again these should be matched up to the decor of the rest of your bathroom. Not only will you be free of the dripping noise, you are also likely to receive many compliments on what can only be described as one of the most basic bathroom items of all time.

Inexpensive Home Development Plans That Make A Noticeable Impact

You can invest in your home without draining your savings or going into debt. There are many ways to have a big impact on your home with small, cost-effective projects. From painting to lighting, this article will cover some of the 7 best little things you can do to make a big change in your home.

1. Freshen Your Flooring

Revive old hardwood floors by sanding them and putting down a fresh coat of stain and wax. Start by cleaning the floors - but if your hardwoods are still showing wear, you might either consider a discount flooring alternative or try throwing down a new area rug to brighten the room.

Carpets can be professionally cleaned or replaced, and old heating vents should be refitted or even repainted to bring out that original sparkle.

2. Paint

Painting a room is a simple way to make a big stylistic change. Try experimenting with different paint finishes or add dimension with textured wallpaper and varying colors.

To make a room seem larger, opt for lighter colors. For a bolder room, choose vibrant colors and a ceiling color that is one to two shades lighter.

3. Declutter

This is the one home improvement task that could actually earn money. Give away or sell your old stuff. Clean out old drawers, storage spaces, basements, garages and attics. Get the notes off the fridge and the hair pins out of your desk drawer, because now is the time to upgrade your home by downgrading your clutter. If you have enough junk to warrant the cost, rent a large driveway trash receptacle for a week and have it hauled away at the end.

4. Refinish Cabinetry

Update old cabinetry by sanding it down and either painting or re-staining it. Use a neutral color that compliments your countertops and isn’t too overbearing. You can also easily update your cabinet hardware with more modern and stylish pulls that will instantly give your kitchen a contemporary feel.

5. Landscaping

Front-yard landscaping can offer a 100 percent return on your investment in terms of added resale value. Invest your money in lawn updates, weed control, low-maintenance shrubbery and easy perennials.

6. Refresh the Exterior

Have your windows cleaned, clear the gutters, pressure-wash your home’s exterior, update your light fixtures and place a potted plant out on the front porch. These are all inexpensive ways to give your house instant "curb appeal."

7. Update your Fixtures

Go through your home replacing old light fixtures, switches and outlet covers. Say goodbye to those outdated, yellowing, plastic switches and hello to clean, modern fixtures. By paying attention to these small details, you’ll make a big difference.

How Chicago Remodeling Can Enhance The Value Of Your House

Using Chicago construction to improve the value of your home could simply mean making an addition or an improvement to just one area such as the kitchen or the main bathroom.

Quite often, when the home is put up for sale there is one outstanding feature which will appeal to new buyers. A newly-renovated kitchen or bathroom is a strong selling point but there are other things cosmetically you can apply if those two rooms are in good order.

Go get a pen and paper and take a tour of your home. Some might be thinking "why, I know my home inside out."

Do you?

When was the last time you really took a good look at your home? Like anything in life, wear and tear will eventually happen; it happens to our cars, it happens to any of the appliances we use, heck, it even happens to us. Yes, just like our bodies which may be due for a cosmetic enhancement sometime in the future, so does the home require a cosmetic touch up every now and again.
What areas are we talking about? Let's take a look at just a few:

- The windows present one of the first impressions to buyers. Are your windows in need of repair or replacement? Perhaps some paint is all that's required. Double pane windows are great for enhancing value. Security shutters are another value-added feature.

- The home may simply need a new paint job. Most homes do after a certain period and if you have been in your home for more than ten years without having looked into the condition of the current paint work then consider it. It can make the whole difference. Times change and so do color preferences and it could well be your home is out-of-date with the current color trends.

- How about new floor coverings? Your carpet may be threadbare and needs replacing or your floor tiling is ancient and tired looking.

- Check your power outlets. Yes, power outlets! How many do you have? Chances are, there are not enough in the home.

- Clean up the clutter around your home both inside and outside. It's unsightly and presents an unfavorable image to the buyer.

- Check your taps and water faucets. Are they leaking? Get them fixed and in proper working order.

- What about the roof of your home. It's another first impression spot and if it's looking worn and tired then pay it some attention.

These are just some Chicago remodeling suggestions you can take on board and while some may be minor it's amazing what a difference they can make. If you make any major changes then it will pay to check with your neighborhood regulations to see what standards need to be followed.

Selling a home is all about initial impressions. If people don't like what they see initially then they won't come back. If they do like something initially then they'll be back for another look. And you're still in the game!

Your Investment Real Estate: Don't Lose Money On Over Improvement

With so much economic uncertainty along with a significant shift to the outsourcing of labor, fixing up homes for resale has become a popular option for beginning a small business. Whether you make a profit on the resale of a home depends largely on the asking price, how much you spend to fix it up, and the market value of the house after completion.

Most homes that are fixed up and resold can be done so for a decent profit. However, there are some homes that are simply "over improved." Ironically, excessive renovations can actually decrease your profit, or even end up costing you money in the long run.

Profitability After Improvements

Before even buying a home, you need to give detailed consideration to what the home can be sold for after the improvements. This will provide you a good idea of what your budget investment should be for the improvements, and help you estimate your potential profit after resale.

You must become knowledgeable about this because many overly optimistic investors blinded by dollar signs wind up over estimating the value of what a home could be worth.

Your best bet is to inquire with a knowledgeable real estate agent who can provide you at least general information about selling prices for homes in the area.

Improving Homes to Comparable Standards

They will also be able to recommend improvements you can do on the property to make the home comparable to others in the neighborhood. Conventional wisdom is that you should avoid having your renovated home becoming either the worst or best house on the block.

Most improvements, besides kitchens and bathrooms, only return a fraction of the cost you put into them. Even improvements in kitchens and bathrooms, the two most important rooms in a house, only raise the value of the home up to a certain amount, regardless of any luxurious amenities you build.

Bluntly, even before you do the improvements, your home's "ceiling value" (that is, the highest amount for which you can realistically resell) is already established by the homes around it.

For example, if you purchase a home for $100,000 and the housing market indicates that similar homes nearby are going for approximately $200,000, you probably won’t be able to sell it for any more than that higher amount, regardless of the impressive improvements you put into it.

Don't Overdo It

By limiting renovations to the work actually needed on the real estate, you can increase your profit by developing its value toward the $200,000 price range without going overboard.

Essentially, your financial goal should be to receive roughly $2.00 back for every $1.00 you spend on renovations. You can accomplish this by developing the quality of the house up to par with that which typical buyers in the area actually need and want, rather than over developing.

My Family Runs A Pressure Wash Illinois Colorado And Driveway Cleaning Business

I pay a lot for this apartment but for some reason the sidewalks always look like crap, they really need a Pressure Wash Illinois Colorado. I swear people purposely throw their garbage on there and there has to be at least a ton or two tons of dirt just jammed into it, making it look pretty nasty . Other than that, the management company that owns my building does a good job with Driveway Cleaning. It is usually really clean, they even do your Residential Deck Sealing. During the winter, they had people shoveling up all the snow outside and salting down the sidewalks. The only problem I had was when the washer and dryer kept acting up, but I made a call and they got fixed over the weekend. I attribute the great attention to the management company, I rented with a private owner before and it seemed like nothing was ever fixed when it was promised . In the past experiences that I have had I have learned that a private owner will try to cut corners as much as possible to save himself a buck or two . A lot of my friends have been evicted from their apartments before their lease was up because the personal owner was selling or remodeling or a family member was moving in . Some of them are just trying to go for more money. They even go against leases that they themselves drew up and signed. Most people do not even consider contacting a lawyer, thinking that it is a losing battle, but they are wrong .

Spray Adhesive

I wasn’t introduced to the wonders of spray adhesive until recently. I was never a very crafty person, but now that there is a little girl in my house, I have found that I like to do crafts more than I thought I would. Even better, she loves to do crafts with me, and we make as much time for them as we can. There are some things that I have to do for her because she is too young, and there are some things that I take shortcuts on just because I do not have all of the time in the world to do what we need to do. Shortcuts are essential in some cases, and they often work better that way.

Spray adhesive is good if you need to glue something together with a good even coat of glue. Though you can take your time and spread out regular glue, you only need a few seconds to apply enough spray adhesive to get what you need. Quite often is sprays out and smooth and even layer of glue that won’t dry too quickly or too slowly. Spray adhesive tends to stay sticky long enough get things put together, but dries faster than most other types of adhesive so that you can get on with what you are doing.

You can use spray adhesive for things other than crafts. You can use it to fix wallpaper that has come loose, or you can use it to put down contact paper in your kitchen if you have some that does not already have adhesive on it. You can use it for many things, and for the price, it seems to be a good bargain. Though I only use spray adhesive for craft projects, I do know that my husband has many uses for it at his construction job, and his company tends to use a lot of it throughout the week.

You can get spray adhesive in hardware, home improvement, and craft stores. You may pay more for it there, but it will be better quality than what you buy in a discount department store. Make sure you keep the nozzle cleaned out to get a good even spray, and keep spray adhesive away from open flames or intense heat. Never though the empty can into a fire, and never leave it lying around where your child can get a hold of it.

Tips For Remedying A Flat Roof Leak

I know from experience that locating a leak in a flat roof can be very difficult and expensive. In our home it took three different roofers, making multiple visits, to identify the place in our flat roof that a leak was coming from. The reason why pin-pointing leaks in flat roofs is difficult is that very often the place where the leak shows in the ceiling below can be quite far away from the place at which the leak is occurring in the flat roof itself.

The best places to look for leaks on a flat roof are flashing or joints or seals of any kind. Now, flashings are the point at which the roof joins adjacent non-roofing material such as brickwork. For example above our kitchen extension we have a parapet wall that is at one edge of the roof and flashing closes the gap between the roof and the wall.

As described at flat roofing, a capable roofer should first examine such flashings to i.d. gaps through which water could perhaps pass. Flashings are typically made of a metal material such as lead .

It is also usually difficult to test for leaks on a flat roof in the way you would on other types of roofs. The reason is because it could take hours for water to trickle down to the ceiling below from the moment you pour it on a suspect area on the roof. This means that in practical reality it's rather hard to test and then track multiple suspect places on the roof. This is explained a bit more at the epdm roofing webpage.

The key to effective flat roof repair is to know in advance the areas that are likely to be vulnerable. The best test unfortunately is to carry out the work to close suspect gaps and then wait to see if the leak persists. Hence flat roof repair depends greatly on the intelligence, honesty and experience of the roofer you hire.
